A virtual graduation ceremony, presentation of certificates and a Grad parade will be the features of Grad 2021 for the Weyburn Comprehensive School, set for Saturday, June 19 for the 164 members of the class.

The school is planning for the virtual ceremony, as well as the small certificate presentations, which will be done on June 14 and 15.

The student-parent committee is planning the other aspects of the day, which will include a parade at 1:30 p.m., and a Grand March at the fairgrounds at 3:30 p.m. The plans are also to have fireworks around 10 p.m. at the fairgrounds.

The parade will be a more traditional form, unlike the reverse parade of last year down Saskatchewan Drive, as it will feature the graduates on floats or in vehicles.

The parade will follow the same route as the Weyburn Chamber of Commerce’s Parade of Lights, which begins from the fairgrounds, goes up Prairie Avenue to Third Street, and then goes through the downtown area and back up Second Street to Bison Avenue, and ends at Government Road.

The virtual ceremonies will be similar to what was done last year, and will be put online at 7 p.m. on June 19, available only to the grads and their families.

The small certificate presentations on June 14 and 15 are still in the planning stages, and in order to comply with gathering size restrictions will be open only to the grads and their parents.
