The Salvation Army Weyburn is now accepting applications for their Back to School program until August 14, where families are helped with school supplies for the coming year. (The photo is from the collection of school supplies for families from 2018.)

To apply, call 306-842-2280 or stop by the family services office located at 8 Fourth Street NE from Tuesday to Friday, between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.

The program is aimed at helping families in need offset the cost of school supplies. While the Salvation Army is not able to provide all the supplies on the school lists, they will provide a backpack filled with pencils, pens, crayons, white erasers, glue sticks, markers, duo-tangs, non-coil notebooks, a ruler, dividers, loose-leaf and a pencil case.

The Salvation Army is accepting donations of the items mentioned above or monetary donations can be made as well.

Last year the Salvation Army provided over 70 backpacks to children in the Weyburn community, and this year they are expecting to see a slight increase.
