SECTA convention

All teaching staff for the Southeast Cornerstone School Division gathered in the Cugnet Centre at the Weyburn Comprehensive School on Thursday, as they prepared for the new school year which opens on Tuesday, Sept. 3. There were a number of information sessions held for teachers, and they gathered for the keynote speaker, Kevin Lamoureux, on Thursday afternoon, a First Nations speaker from the University of Winnipeg.
He spoke about the Truth and Reconciliation Commission and the issues noted in their final report, and said reconciliation is something that can happen in every classroom every day, as he urged all people to be the agent of change for a better Canada.

For a full report on Lamoureux's speech to the teachers, see the Weyburn Review's Sept. 4 issue.
