Tosczak Auctions opened for business at 285 1st Street S.W. on November 18. Darren Boren, consignment manager/auctioneer, Jeff Tosczak, owner/auctioneer and Rebecca Guest, office manager are preparing for the Grand Opening Auction on February 6 at 5:30 p.m.

There is something thrilling about a live auction, and for Jeff Tosczak it's that excitement drew him to begin his new venture.

The community of Weyburn gained a consignment auction when the doors to Tosczak Auctions opened November 18 behind Great Plains Ford at 285 1st Avenue S.W. in a 14,000 square foot, state of the art, climate-controlled facility.

Tosczak attended the World Wide College of Auctioneering in the 90s. Shortly after auctioneering school, he moved to Winnipeg to work for Manitoba's largest dealer Auto Auction.

From there, Jeff moved to Edmonton, Alberta to accept the sales manager position at another Auto Auction.

Upon moving back to Weyburn, Tosczak continued to fill the role of auctioneer at charitable functions, creating the birth of Tosczak Auctions.

"I love getting up on the podium and doing the live auction. I have so much fun doing it. I'm totally in my element when I'm up there and auctioning stuff off. The excitement for me is the live auction itself."

Tosczak Auctions is a general consignment auction, which will be held once a month. Items taken in will be everything from farm machinery to vehicles, quads, skidoos, antiques and furniture.

The first live auction is set for February 6 at 5:30 p.m. and until then Tosczak said they will be taking in consignments and preregistering bidders. Bidders will have their bid number for life at Tosczak Auctions. Auction day is a hectic day, and having preregistered bidders makes signing in run smoothly.

As an added incentive to preregistering, Tosczak Auctions will be doing a $1,000 cash draw at the Grand Opening Auction for everyone that is preregistered and in attendance.

"We want to encourage everyone to preregister because Auction day will be hectic and signing in for the auction becomes much faster if you are already registered, and also you will be able to get in for that draw," said Tosczak.

There are three ways to preregister. Visit them online at tosczakauctions.com and fill out the online registration. While you're there, browse items up for bid. Call 306-842-3500 or you can visit the facility and the friendly staff will help walk you through the consignment and registration process.

The next couple of months before the grandopening sale will give Tosczak Auctions time to get everything organized and ready to go.

" It's been a long time in the making, but I'm looking forward to getting on the podium and start auctioning," said Tosczak. "It's going to be a fun atmosphere and it's going to give the people Weyburn and surrounding areas something fun to do. It's definitely going to be an event to go to and have some fun at."

Tosczak says he's excited for the grand opening auction February 6 at 5:30 p.m. and looks forward to seeing everyone there.
