Veteran Howard Schmidt, one of only a handful of veterans left from the Second World War, laid a wreath for the South Saskatchewan Regiment at the cenotaph on Remembrance Day on Sunday. This year was a special year for the Remembrance Day ceremonies across Canada, as the 100th anniversary of the end of the First World War was marked, and churches across Canada rang their bells 100 times at sunset, including three churches in Weyburn, to commemorate that milestone anniversary.
