Two Weyburn Credit Union staff members, Charles Ries and Erica Dorsch, presented a cheque for $4,500 to the Weyburn branch of the Canadian Mental Health Association on Tuesday.

The donation was accepted by executive director Tasha Collins, and board member Mal Barber.

The funds will go towards programming needs at the CMHA, and towards capital projects, such as upgrades that need to be made to the kitchen and washrooms.

The donation is from all of the staff of the Weyburn Credit Union, who each made a $50 donation to wear jeans on Fridays in 2021.

As a group, they decided where they wanted their donation to go, and they chose CMHA. They provide an invaluable service in the community, especially given the times.

“Mental health is more important today then it ever has been. National Mental Health Week is May 3-9, so we thought making this donation then would be a great way to kickstart that week for CMHA,” said Tana Torkelson, vice-president of marketing for Weyburn Credit Union.
