Twin girls Myla and Morgyn Moule of Weyburn were “super nervous” to meet someone famous, but they enjoyed meeting LPGA star Lorie Kane when she was in Regina for the golf tour event.

The Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital Foundation asked the girls to take part in “Walk with a Pro” at the LPGA tour in Regina on Aug. 22. They got to walk with Kane and interact with her at hole 11.

Prior to this, the girls have only ever mini-golfed and loved it. Kane taught the girls how to putt, which Myla had to teach to her brother Cayson as soon as she got home. They said it was the best day ever and kept mentioning how lucky they were.

Through the Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital Foundation they have had meet-and-greets with Weyburn’s Graham DeLaet, Garth Brooks and now Lorie Kane.

“The girls are truly lucky,” said their mom, Jennie Moule. “Myla and Morgyn love to take part in things to help raise money for the hospital, like the Radiothon in Regina every year. We are very thankful that they are building the children’s hospital in Saskatoon. That means less trips for Morgyn to Edmonton to have heart procedures done.”

Myla and Morgyn were born at 32 weeks in Saskatoon. Morgyn was born with Pulmonary Atresia, which means she was missing a conduit in her heart. At eight weeks old she had her first open heart surgery. That conduit only lasted two years and she had it replaced just 12 days after her second birthday.

She has yearly checkups with the cardiology team in Saskatoon. Morgyn will need at least one more open heart surgery in the future.

As her mom pointed out, “She’s a happy, healthy nine-year-old who loves to write, spending time with her family and being outdoors.”

The girls attend Grade 4 at Haig School.

Asked about the challenges she has with her health, Morgyn answered, “I have to be careful to wear my plugs in the water, because if water gets in my ears my tubes will come out. I have tubes in my ears to help me hear better. I also have to make sure I don’t go in the hot tub for longer than five minutes, it’s not healthy for my heart.”

She also noted her sister will help her out. “Yah, sometimes when I need help with my homework she helps me. When I need someone to play with, my sister will play with me,” she said, adding about her family’s support, “I’m happy, my mum, dad, sister and brother help me. They help me when I’m scared, and when I was worried about school they helped me feel better, like when I was worried about forgetting division.”
