Weyburn police arrest three men for drug trafficking

The Weyburn Police Service executed three simultaneous search warrants; one at a residence in Weyburn and two at residences in Yellow Grass on Thursday at 6:30 a.m.

The Weyburn Police Service executed three simultaneous search warrants; one at a residence in Weyburn and two at residences in Yellow Grass on Thursday at 6:30 a.m. Throughout the day a further four search warrants were executed at residences in Weyburn and one at a residence in Francis.

The search warrants were as a result of an ongoing investigation by the Weyburn Police Service Criminal Investigation Unit into the trafficking of cocaine in the City of Weyburn.

The searches resulted in a quantity of cocaine and substances believed to be heroin being found, as well, over $45,000 in cash was also located and seized. Police arrested three males, who are in their early to mid-20’s, and who are currently facing combined charges of trafficking cocaine, possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking, proceeds of crime over $5,000, and one who is also facing a charge of resisting arrest.

The Weyburn Police Service was assisted in these searches by RCMP members from Weyburn, Milestone and Carlyle Detachments, RCMP and Estevan Police Service dogs, members from the Estevan Police Service, the National Weapons Enforcement Team (Regina), and the Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit (CFSEU South), which is a combined unit made up of members of the Regina Police Service and RCMP.

The investigation remains ongoing and further charges are pending.
