Weyburn Police Services' newest member was sworn in Tuesday, October 1.
Constable Rachael Clarke came to Weyburn from Manitoba where she spent five years with the RCMP. She is now the fourth female officer in Weyburn.
Clarke said she was recently married, and would like to put some roots down. Weyburn offers all the amenities and has been friendly and welcoming.
"We're excited about creating a base for ourselves," said Clarke.
Her husband Steve is a teacher at Weyburn Comprehensive High School.
Becoming a police officer seemed natural as Clarke says she has always had a heart for service work. Prior to beginning her career in law enforcement, Clark travelled with the Canadian Mennonite University, to Guatemala where she witnessed women being beaten on the street.
"It was a scary situation," she said.
From that experience, Clarke moved into working security and her career took off from there.
"It's been a really fulfilling career. I've experienced all kinds of stuff and have had tons of opportunities," she said, adding she has special interest in in-depth investigations and forensics.
