The Weyburn Leisure Centre will re-open the outdoor pool Wednesday, July 15, in full compliance with the guidelines and restrictions as required by the Chief Medical Health Officer and regulated under the Government of Saskatchewan’s Re-open Saskatchewan plan.

With the announcement of the Phase Four, Part I opening dates from the Government of Saskatchewan, the City has responded quickly to open many leisure, recreation and sport facilities.

The City has undertaken the process of contacting staff for availability to get these amenities up and safely running. Many of the staff required at these facilities were placed on emergency leave or reassigned to other departments within the City in early March, and the typical summer seasonal hiring did not take place.

There are a number of safety measures and supplies that will be in place for this facility to safely open for staff and residents, including signage and the following protocols regarding the necessary precautions that will be required when visiting:

A maximum of 40 patrons will be permitted during public swim blocks, so participants are asked to pre-book for Public Swim and Lane Swim times through BookKing at https://app.bookking.ca/weyburnpub/ , or by calling the leisure Centre during regular business hours at (306) 848-3280.

Reservations must be made by 10 p.m. the day prior, and any remaining spots will be provided to swimmers on a first-come, first-served basis.

Concession items will not be available at this time. Participants may bring in food and beverages with the exception of alcohol. Food and beverages are not permitted on the deck.

Patio chairs will not be available. Participants are encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs.

The Aqua Climb wall will not be installed and the water slide will be limited to the shallow side.

The change rooms will not be open to the public to prevent the spread of COVID-19. The outdoor pool will operate much like a beach, where participants should enter and exit the facility in their swim clothes. Washrooms are available to the public.

Children 12 and under must be accompanied by an adult to encourage physical distancing. Two metres (six feet) physical distance is required between staff and public with the exception of those that reside in the same household or extended household. Five to six children can be supervised by one adult, but an adult is only allowed two children who are five or under.

All swimmers must take a cleansing shower before entering the pool.
