The Mike and Cara Weger family of Weyburn is continuing with Team Teresa’s fundraising/awareness idea for the month of May in fight against cystic fibrosis, with the goal to raise funds for research and programs.

The official “walk day” for the Walk to make CF history is Sunday, May 31. Because the CF community is not able to get together on that day due to restrictions under COVID-19, walks will be taking place virtually in many ways across Canada.

Regina plans to host an online opening ceremonies for anyone to watch. The Weger family has been asked to do a little video from the family about what their team has done to raise money and awareness for CF this month.

Bennett (shown in the photo above) is doing his own campaign to raise $4,000 for Cystic Fibrosis Saskatchewan by rollerblading at least 65 km a week and taking 4,300 hockey shots for pledges during the month of May. The family team, Team Teresa (named after Bennett’s older sister, who has cystic fibrosis) is also walking and running during the month of May for pledges to raise funds and awareness.

“I would prefer to include as many of you as I can. If you feel comfortable, send on a quick video just saying why you joined the challenge (whether it was posting Km’s, collecting donations, shooting pucks, taking lacrosse shots, or making lay ups). If you want to be outside doing the activity you’ve been doing that would be great,” said Cara Weger in a post on her son Bennett’s Facebook page for his CF challenge. “If video isn’t your thing, a picture that shows who you are and why you helped out would be great too.”

Janice Daniels, who works for Saskatchewan Cystic Fibrosis, is putting together a video to play for the opening ceremonies next week. Tenille Arts is sending along a video as well.

If you’d like to send something, please try and send today (Saturday) or early Sunday so she has time to put it all together. Include that you are part of Team Teresa and what your connection to CF has been, even if it’s been attending events or this is your first year.
