The City of Weyburn Walk of Fame Committee has rescheduled its 2021 induction ceremony until the fall.

Due to current travel restrictions and in-person gathering sizes, the committee decided to postpone the ceremony after discussion with this year’s inductees, to better accommodate guests and public attendance.

The ceremony is slated for Saturday, September 11 at City Hall, with the time of the ceremony still to be determined.

In March, Kathryn Groshong and Graham DeLaet, both accomplished Weyburn athletes, were announced as the 2021 inductees.

“We are thrilled that Mrs. Groshong and Mr. DeLaet will be inducted in our Walk of Fame this year and to ensure they experience a notable ceremony, the committee decided it was important to reschedule the celebrations,” said committee chair, Coun. Dick Michel.

Groshong and DeLaet have each represented Weyburn at provincial and national levels in their respective sports of swimming and golf, and embody many characteristics that are the essence of Weyburn identity.
