Weyburn Tourism’s “Be A Tourist in your own Hometown” contest has officially wrapped up. The last day for entries was on September 2.

“Our 2019 campaign again exceeded our expectations and we appreciate all the wonderful social media posts put forth by our Weyburn residents,” said Weyburn Tourism’s executive director, Twila Walkeden.

This initiative encouraged residents to explore and document the vast options of summer activities available in the community. As they experienced events taking place over the summer, they were able to act as ambassadors and promoters for family and friends who come to stay and play.

“We applaud everyone who came up with their own creative ways to showcase what Weyburn has to offer,” said Walkeden.

“We really want to thank all the residents that took part in our summer campaign. We enjoyed viewing all the photos that attached the hashtags #ThisIsWeyburn and #WeyburnTourism.”

Weyburn Tourism named Ronila Poquiz as the winner.

“She posted many great sites to see in and around the community and we commend her efforts on shining a light on the many unique things that Weyburn has to offer,” said Walkeden. She has won an evening out in Weyburn, which includes two tickets to see singer Tenille Arts on April 8, 2020 at the Cugnet Centre, and supper at Boston Pizza.

Although summer is ending, along with the campaign, they urge residents to keep the hashtags rolling.

“We want to show off Weyburn, and our residents are the greatest ambassadors,” said Walkeden.
