Cornerstone writers

Three young writers in the Southeast Cornerstone School Division gathered after they presented and read their winning essays to the board of trustees at Cornerstone’s monthly meeting on Wednesday. From left they are Alex Spencer and Kiarra Biette, both in Grade 6 at Westview School in Estevan, and Grace Pederson, who was in Grade 7/8 at Lyndale School in Oungre last year, currently attending the Weyburn Comp. Alex read her story about “Dayna”, a family dog; Biette read “The Letter”, and Pederson read her piece, “Distant Memories”, about a friend from Assiniboia who passed away. They were featured as part of a Cornerstone writing program, Turning Points, where students are encouraged to write personal essays about signifcant events or experiences in their lives.
