The Weyburn Young Fellows Club is now preparing for their 64th annual fundraising online auction. This is their biggest fundraiser of the year and it has only been successful due to the generous support they receive from local businesses.

This year the auction bidding will go live on Friday, May 14, at 9 a.m., and the bidding will close on Friday, May 28, at 7 p.m.

“We have enjoyed much success since moving our auction online. It allows us to realize better value for your generous donations,” said fundraising chair Chad Ror, noting that members are seeking donations from Weyburn and area businesses for the auction.

In their letter to businesses, Ror said, “We greatly appreciate your consideration in donating to our auction. Every donation that we receive whether it’s an item, gift certificate, cash donation, large or small helps us achieve our goal to make Weyburn and area a better place to live.”

He added that “economic times have changed, but our community has helped us with great success over the years knowing that we follow our Motto of ‘We Serve’, and with that our supporters know we are giving our monies directly back to the community.”

In the coming weeks a member of the Weyburn Young Fellows’ Club will be calling on local businesses to solicit their support. They will further explain this community fundraiser to business owners, and if necessary, schedule a pick-up date for any donated items. The earlier the Young Fellows receive items, the earlier it is up on the site for all of their traffic to see, with each company receiving recognition along the way.

“If due to an oversight, you are not approached by one of our club members and you would still like to donate, please feel to contact us via email auction@weyburnyoungfellows.com. You can also fill in our item donation form through our website https://www.weyburnyoungfellows.com/auction-donation,” said Ror.

A quick link to this year’s auction is already set up on the club’s website by clicking on the Visit Auction button at https://www.weyburnyoungfellows.com/auction.

The Young Fellows Club of Weyburn has been operating for almost 100 years, improving the quality of life for the members of our community. The club presently has over 50 members and have donated over $2 million back into the community of Weyburn.

“We take great pride in the fact that every dollar we raise goes back into worthy organizations or projects in the community,” said Ror, listing some of the many ways the club has supported the community.

In 2007 the club was able to provide funds for the spray park in Don Mitchell Park, and in 2016 they helped with the Don Mitchell Paddling Pool.

Other notable donations made include Tatagwa View Long Term Care Centre, play equipment at the Don Mitchell Playground, the Wor-Kin Shop, and ongoing recipients of funding include numerous youth sports teams, arts and culture programs, education scholarships, the Family Place, Red Cross swimming lessons, free public skating, Inclusion Weyburn, the Weyburn Hospital Foundation, Care-A-Van Society, and many more.
