School is back in session, and the 2019 YouthBiz contest is open for entries. YouthBiz is a business competition designed for Grade 6 to 12 students in southeast Saskatchewan, and is held by Community Futures Sunrise.
The contest promotes entrepreneurship, financial literacy and makes a connection between young people and business.
Since the contest began in 2007, close to 2,400 students from southeast Saskatchewan have competed for more than $24,000 in prize money.
To enter YouthBiz, students need to come up with a fantastic business idea, write about it by following the questions in the YouthBiz guide, and submit their entry to CF Sunrise on or before the deadline of Thursday, Nov. 21.

“We’re so happy to see teachers contacting our office to find out how they can get students involved in YouthBiz. There is such tremendous enthusiasm for youth entrepreneurship in the southeast region,” said O'Neill.
Last year, the contest had 390 students from around southeast Saskatchewan competed for over $2,000 in prize money.
“We look forward to another great year of the program. The students always have a fun time exploring the world of micro-business, and of course, a special thank you goes out to teachers in the region for encouraging student involvement,” said O’Neill.
