City police arrest three on drug charges

Members of the Weyburn Police Service, while conducting a traffic stop in the city on Friday, located evidence to indicate the occupants of the vehicle were involved in the drug trade. Police arrested three adult males, an 18-year-old and 19-year-old from Edmonton, Alta., and a 45-year-old from Weyburn. The 18 and 19-year-old are facing charges of possession for the purpose of trafficking cocaine and proceeds of crime. Police seized the vehicle and a little over $4,000 cash, plus a quantity of cocaine. Both were remanded for court in Regina on Monday. The 45-year-old male was charged with possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking and was released by a Justice of the Peace for court at a later date.
In the evening and morning hours on Saturday and Sunday, police received numerous reports from varying areas in the city of vehicles having been entered and gone through with articles stolen. The investigation is ongoing and police want to remind everyone to lock their vehicles and remove any valuables. Police also received multiple reports from citizens reporting possible impaired drivers. Police want to thank the public watching out for the safety of each other and calling in these potentially dangerous driving incidences.
Police attended to a local hotel on Dec. 3 in regard to a report of noisy guests who were at a Christmas party. Those involved complied with the police request to be quiet and no charges under the noise bylaw were issued.
Police were on routine patrol on Dec. 5 when a concerned citizen waved police down to report a suspected impaired driver about to drive away in his vehicle. Police investigated and stopped the adult male driver before he left the scene. He was arrested for care and control and subsequently he blew over three times the legal limit. The male was charged with impaired and over .08 and was later released from custody to appear in court at a later date.
City police received a report from a local business of an individual caught on the store camera stealing items on Dec. 5. The investigation is ongoing and charges are pending.
Police received a report of a vehicle pulling a toboggan with youth down a city street on Dec. 5. Police responded but the vehicle was not found. Police want to remind motorists of the seriousness of this action, as what appears to be harmless fun could end in severe consequences where the person on the toboggan could be seriously injured.
City police conducted a curfew check on an adult female on Dec. 5. The investigation determined she was not at home for her curfew and she was charged for failing to comply with her probation order.
Police attended to a local residence for a domestic disturbance in progress on Friday. Police were able to mediate the situation with the adult male agreeing to stay away from the residence for the evening.
Police received a call of a dispute between renters and a landlord that was getting out of hand on Saturday. Police attended and were able to mediate the situation. Police remained on scene to keep the peace until the renters moved their property out of the apartment.
City police conducted a traffic stop in the early morning hours on Saturday, and the subsequent investigation determined a adult male driver had consumed enough alcohol to warrant a 72-hour suspension.
