City police investigating frauds, mischief

The Weyburn Police Service is investigating a fraud after a complainant had been defrauded of a large amount of money through a bogus financial services organization. The investigation is ongoing.

City police received a complaint of a mischief to a vehicle on Sunday. The vehicle had been parked on the street and overnight someone had spray-painted graffiti on the hood of the vehicle. There are no suspects at this time, and the incident remains under investigation.

Weyburn police received a report of a credit card fraud at a local store on Thursday. The suspect had purchased a large amount of merchandise, but the store employee became suspicious and refused to allow the individual leave with the property until they came back with either cash or proper documentation. The suspect left the store and did not return. The incident remains under investigation.

Weyburn police received a complaint of a male exposing himself on Sunday. The investigation resulted in a 32-year-old male being charged with indecent acts. He will appear in court at a later date.

The Weyburn Police Service were dispatched to a domestic assault on June 17 after an altercation had occurred between the mother and her 13-year-old son. The situation was mediated and is currently still under investigation. No charges have been laid as of the time of this report.

Members of the Weyburn police were called to an assault in progress on June 18. The investigation determined that a mother and son had a disagreement and the son had assaulted the mother. A 14-year-old male was arrested and charged with assault. He was later released from custody and will appear in court at a later date.

A member of the Weyburn Police Service observed a male driving who was known to be a suspended driver on Wednesday. As a result of the investigation, a 27-year-old male was arrested and charged with driving while suspended, breach of probation and was found to have warrants for his arrest from the Regina Police Service. The male was remanded in custody.

Weyburn police were called to a domestic assault on Wednesday. Upon police arrival, the suspect had fled the residence. The investigation determined that a 14-year-old male had pulled a knife and had threatened an adult in the house and another individual in the house had intervened. Police later located the male and he was arrested and charged with assault with a weapon. He was later released from custody to appear in court at a later date.

City police received a report of a hit-and-run accident that had occurred at Government Road and Highway 39 on Thursday. The complainant advised police they had been sideswiped by a truck pulling a trailer, and they had failed to stop. Later that day, the driver of the truck and trailer advised police that the other driver had hit the trailer and not stopped. The matter remains under investigation.
