Police, Conservation officers remove a loose moose

moose that had wondered into town in the fog and was seen in Jubilee Park on March 26. Officers attempted to herd the moose out of park but it was spooked by traffic. The moose was tranquilized and relocated.

Officers were called to a dispute between two workers at a local business. Officers spoke with both parties and learned they had a verbal argument that escalated into a food fight. Officers warned them of their actions.

City police officers, along with one RCMP member, conducted a small traffic enforcement blitz focusing on distracted drivers on March 29. Three motorists were charged for using a cell phone while driving and one motorist was charged for speeding.

WPS attended a two-vehicle collision two miles north on Highway 35. One vehicle had collided with the rear of another vehicle that had slowed to make a turn. Police, fire and EMS attended the scene. There were no injuries.

A taxicab driver reported that an unknown male punched and smashed out the side window of his cab. This matter is still under investigation.

An elderly male was spoken to regarding erratic driving action. Numerous complaints had been received by the Weyburn Police over the past while and a request to have SGI review his driver’s license was made.

Officers were notified and requested to speak to an adult and a youth regarding the legal age of consent and applicable consequences. Both parties were spoken to, with their parents present, and informed as requested.

A young male reported mischief to his vehicle while he was at work. The male believed it may be some youth that had been causing a disturbance in the store. The matter is under investigation.

During a bar walk, officers observed a male who was violating his conditions by consuming alcohol and/or being in a place that serves alcohol. The male was arrested and charged.

An adult female requested officers to come and speak with her adult boyfriend who was being confrontational with her. The male was very intoxicated and willingly agreed to leave the residence and sleep in WPS custody until he was sober.

While on patrol in the early morning hours, officers noticed three suspicious male youth who fled upon noticing the officers. The youth were located and identified a short time later. Officers gave them a ride home.

Officers attended a local care facility and spoke to staff who expressed concerns with an aggressive patient. Staff advised no assault occurred but that staff noticed the aggression toward another patient and stepped in to prevent anything from happening.
