A campaign to put the heads of fire and police agencies in jail by raising $2,000 each is continuing on until all of the funds are raised.

This is a fundraiser for STARS, and was started at the “Evening with STARS” held on Tuesday evening at McKenna Hall. The goal is to raise $2,000 each to put Weyburn Police Chief Marlo Pritchard, Fire Chief Simon Almond, and Sgt. Brian Neilmeyer, commanding officer of Weyburn’s RCMP detachment, in jail for a day.

At the fundraiser event, $2,210 was raised, with another $200 donated by the Weyburn Police Association on Wednesday morning to bring the total to $2,410.

Once the funds are raised, they will be donated to STARS, along with the other funds raised on Tuesday night, which is also going towards building a helicopter pad for Weyburn’s new acute-care hospital.

Donations can be made to either the Weyburn and District Hospital Foundation office or at the Weyburn Police station, and the foundation will issue tax receipts.

The totals aren’t in yet for the “Evening with STARS”, but the silent and live auctions raised about $17,000, with the other totals to come in later.
