Police investigate several reports of thefts

Weyburn police responded to a report of a stolen vehicle at a commercial dwelling unit in the early morning hours on Wednesday. Police located the vehicle on the side of the street a short distance away. Investigation determined that the vehicle had been dragged from its parking stall, causing extensive damage to the undercarriage. The matter remains under investigation.

• City police responded to a report of theft of the tailgate from a high-end pickup truck on Wednesday. The matter remains under investigation.

• Weyburn police responded to a report of a lawn mower and other items stolen from a residence in the city on Thursday. The matter remains under investigation.

• Police responded to a break and enter at a City of Weyburn well station on Friday. The matter is under investigation.

• Police were called to a domestic disturbance in a residential area in the early morning hours on Aug. 7. Members attended and the matter was mediated without incident.

• Weyburn police responded to a RID (report impaired drivers) complaint at an establishment in the City on Friday.  As a result of the information received, two separate vehicle stops were conducted by city police. The drivers of both vehicles were found to be impaired by alcohol and were charged for operating a motor vehicle while their blood alcohol level exceeded .08 milligrams.

• Police were called to a disturbance at the Weyburn Beavers game on Friday evening. Patrons were reported to be drinking heavily and getting out of control. Police attended and the matter was resolved without incident.

• City police responded to a fight at an establishment in the city on Saturday. Police attended and an altercation broke out between the responding members and one of the persons involved in the initial fight. An adult male was taken into custody for resisting arrest.

• Various types of scams continue to plague the residents of the Weyburn. The Weyburn Police Service would like to remind people to use caution when conducting business or divulging personal information online or over the phone. Residents are encouraged to contact police to report scams, and are glad to offer advice to anyone who feels they may be an intended target.
