Saskatchewan reports new COVID-19 death, more cases in the far north

REGINA — Saskatchewan has announced 21 new cases of COVID-19 and a seventh death from the illness.

The province says the person who died was in their 60s and from the northern region.

It's the first death the province has reported from COVID-19 in three weeks.

Of the new cases, 16 are in the far north region that includes the communities of La Loche and Beauval, where there has been a recent rise of infections.

So far, Saskatchewan has seen a total of 620 cases.

The province says 494 people have recovered.
