Successful Relay for Life held by Midale SLC

The Midale Student Leadership Council raised over $22,000 during their Relay for Life. The Relay for Life was held at the Midale Central School on June 18. All proceeds from the event will be donated to the Canadian Cancer Society.

The Midale Student Leadership Council raised over $22,000 during their Relay for Life.
The Relay for Life was held at the Midale Central School on June 18. All proceeds from the event will be donated to the Canadian Cancer Society.
The names of the SLC who attended, promoted, planned and facilitated the event included: Mary Vilcu, Janessa Kolenz, Randy Wiebe, Jenna Effa, Luke Bleasdale, McKenna Bieber, Emily Wiebe, Taelyn Kolke, Charitee Troendle, Kristina Brasseur, Keisha Swenson, Jayden Mathieu, David Wiebe, Mackae Rinas, Dallas Slastukin, Sherri Gall and Autumn Wiens. Paige Duncan and Caitlyn Ganson took photos throughout the day.
The Relay for Life event couldn’t have went off as well without the support of some great volunteers including: Robin and Glen Wiens, Cathy and Adam Harvey, Terrill Bloor, Nancy Campbell and Jessy Roszell (who ran and facilitated the silent auction), Sharon Ivan, Megan Cascagnette, Chelsea Allan, Melayne Borys, Lora LaFrentz, Gary Cooney, Marie Campbell, Jessica and Chris McNaab, Kevin Roszell, Brittney Wild and Julie and Trevor Van Alstyne.
The survivors in attendance included Jeanette McNalty, who did the opening ceremony speech; Tammie Morrison who rode all the way from Weyburn to Midale and lead the survivors in the first lap; as well as Delaine Kendall, Maureen Cooney, Tim Stadnick, Otis, and Barb.
Sponsors of the Relay for Life included: Great Plains Ford in Weyburn, Western Prime Meats in Weyburn, Powertech A1 rentals, Weyburn Wholesale Club, Goodwater Machine Shop, Dominoes Pizza, Annie’s Country Market, Prairie Sky Co-op and Alchem.
The top fundraiser was Betty Kramer (age 82 from Midale $1,030), Maehailey Cascagnette (11 years old from Weyburn $875.30), and Tanya Stadnick (from Midale, $740). Top teams included: Team Wild-Rosze, Team Bride, Journey with Jeanette and the Hawkins’ Cougars (from Milestone).
