Frances Bessie (Bonk) Krainyk

1924~2017
Frances Bessie (Bonk) Krainyk

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Frances Bessie Krainyk on December 6, 2017 at the age of 93 years. Frances was born on May 31, 1924 in the Candiac, Saskatchewan area. She grew up in a family of 11 children and several step-children. Frances worked very hard growing up - gardening, baking, field work and even stooking sheaves at harvest time. Frances fondly remembered walking miles to both school and church with her siblings.  She married William Krainyk on July 31, 1947 at the Catholic Church Rectory in Mutrie, Saskatchewan. Together they farmed in the Griffin/Fillmore area until 1978 and raised their four children. Frances was a big part of the farm growing a large garden, baking delicious desserts, raising chickens, ducks and geese.  After their final harvest in 1978 they retired to Weyburn.  Frances proudly shared her cooking talents with the residents of Pioneer Place.  Frances and her family always enjoyed good meals, family time, fishing, playing cards, and visiting friends. She filled her retirement with bingo, gardening, sewing and quilting.  Her family will always treasure the quilts she lovingly created.  Frances was an active member of the Catholic Women’s League for many years. Faith was a very important part of her life and she rarely missed attending Sunday mass. Frances was predeceased by her parents, Andrew & Katherine Bonk; husband, William Krainyk (1998); infant son, Joseph (1952; five brothers, Charlie, Andrew, Michael, Jack and Louie; three sisters, Sophie, Nellie and Mary and son-in-law, Eugene Price (2014).
