Joyce Kitchen

Joyce Kitchen, beloved wife, mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully with her family surrounding her on Monday, January 22, 2018 at the age of 84. She is predeceased by her parents, Mike and Margaret Osadchuk and her sister Marie Hort. She leaves behind her husband, Ed; her children Gordon (Eileen) and Eileen’s daughters Jess, Tara and their families; her son Ron (Lori) with Ron’s sons Brett and Arin and Lori’s daughters Samantha and Megan (Chris) and their children Jackson and Avery; her daughter Shari (Roy) Remus; her sister-in-law Ruth Genoway; brother-in-law Eugene (Karen) and family; brother-in-law Bordon and family. Joyce grew up on a lovely farm near Canora, Saskatchewan. When she married Ed they moved to Weyburn where she spent the rest of her life being a wonderful mother, grandmother, and friend to those who knew her. Over the years she developed her talents at cooking, baking, sewing garments, knitting, upholstery, paper tole, wood carving, and of course her quilting, although she never appreciated those skills like her family did. Joyce could never resist a piece of fabric that caught her eye. Her gardens at the lake were large, lush and beautiful to see - and who can forget her giant pumpkins! Any visitor to Joyce’s kitchen had at least three desserts on offer and those lucky enough to enjoy a home cooked meal got to taste something pretty special. A special thank you from Joyce and her family goes out to friends Elma and Murray McCormick, Gloria Onstad, Gary and Tanya Barclay, Alan and Jan York, nephew Chris Hort and his wife Ann. Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life will be held in the Spring. For family and friends that wish to do so, in lieu of flowers, Joyce has asked that charitable donations in her memory be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Saskatchewan, 1738 Quebec Avenue, Unit 26, Saskatoon, SK, S7K 1V9. Arrangements are entrusted to RD Family Funeral Chapel & Crematorium, Weyburn, SK (848-0333 ~ 1-888-848-0333). Expressions of sympathy to the family may be sent to our website at www.rdfamilymemorialchapel.com “Celebrating Life, One Family At A Time”.
