Shirley Eileen Roth

August 28, 1933 - October 30, 2017
Shirley Eileen Roth

With tremendous sadness, the family of Shirley Roth announces her passing. Born August 28, 1933, in Ceylon, Saskatchewan, Shirley was the second child and only daughter of Wilfred and Edna Roth.  Except for a brief time in Alberta, Shirley spent almost her entire life in Radville.  She relocated to Bengough Twilight Home in 2016. Shirley enjoyed her time at Bengough, referring to the staff there as her “new family”.  As her health deteriorated, Shirley returned home and died on Monday, October 30, 2017, at Radville Hospital. We cannot thank enough the staffs of both Bengough and Radville Hospital for the compassionate care and many kindnesses extended to Shirley and all her family members. Shirley was predeceased by her betrothed partner, Ray Dietrich, in 1991. She is survived by her brothers and sisters-in-law, Allan & Myrna Roth and Winston Roth & Marg Phenix; her beloved nieces and nephews: Laura Lee & Rick Claffey, Terry & Laurette Roth, Ron & Marie Roth, Roxanne & Ken Appell, Tanya & Barry Reed, Mark Roth & Brenda Proctor, Bonnie & Doug Simpson; and several great- and great-great nieces and nephews. Shirley began her working career at the R.M. office in Ceylon. She was then employed by the Radville School Division as assistant to the secretary-treasurer.  After a career that spanned 47 years, Shirley was so much more than her job title.  She was a highly skilled colleague and a highly treasured friend to all. As the sign to Radville says, Shirley was a proud prairie person.  She was especially fond of her home town.  There were few, if any, community events she didn’t support, either in person or with her purse, and, more often than not, with both. Individuals and organizations throughout the area will miss her presence and her generosity. So, too, will her family.  We will be saying our final farewell to Shirley on Thursday, November 9, 2017 at 2 pm.  Please join us on at Radville United Church, 230 Hunt Street, for a time of remembrance and friendship. If friends so desire, donations may be made to the Radville United Church, Box 445, Radville, Sk., S0C 2G0, the Radville Marian Health Centre, Box 310, Radville, Sk., S0C 2G0 or to the Bengough Twilight Home Auxiliary, Box 437, Bengough, Sk., S0C 0K0.
