Viola Florence Forseth passed away peacefully November 26, 2017 at the age of 79 years. Viola was predeceased by her parents, Howar15-1938d and Hazel Thompson; her husband, Mervin Forseth; brothers, Gordon Bruce and Howard Thompson; sister, Esther Thompson and niece, Donna Hicks. Viola was born June 15, 1938 on NW-4-6-22 W2 in the rural municipality of Bengough, Saskatchewan. In 1939 she moved with her family to a farm one mile north of Ritchie. Viola attended Rexall, Albert Springs and Ogema Schools. Viola married Mervin Forseth on August 22, 1958. They started out living in the same farmyard as Mervin’s parents and remained there until 1964. They then moved to their own farm south of Ritchie where they raised their five children. In addition to being a farm wife, Viola spent ten years painting with her Aunt Clara Farr before branching out on her own. She may have painted the whole town of Bengough and the surrounding area at one time or another. After Viola and Mervin retired, they alternated between summers at the farm and winter in Bengough. Viola had many interests such as, crafting, puzzles, hunting, fishing and gardening. Her favourite pastime was looking after the farmyard which they both referred to as “their little piece of heaven!” Viola’s biggest passion was her family and she took great pride in caring for her husband and children. This generous and kind-hearted woman loved to have her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren around her and unconditionally welcomed each spouse, girlfriend and boyfriend as her own. You would never hear a complaint or a bad word no matter the circumstance. Viola is proof that angels walk among us. We will forever be in her circle of love. We love you Mom, you will be missed and never forgotten. Viola will be lovingly remembered by sons, Rick (Kerry) of Regina, SK, Gary (Cindy) of Bengough, SK; Lyndon (Kelly) of Weyburn, SK and Lynell (Melinda) of Slave Lake, AB; daughter, Lana Forseth (Garry Hinderks) of Balgonie, SK; grandchildren, Curtis (Skylar), Steven (Ticia), Dustin, Haley (Sheldon) and Becky (Brandon); great granddaughter, Lily; brother, Dick (Betty) Thompson as well as numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. A Graveside Service & Interment were held on Friday, December 1, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at Bengough Cemetery, Bengough, Saskatchewan with the Reverend Isabella Frank officiating. Pallbearers were Curtis Forseth, Steven Forseth, Dustin Forseth, Sheldon O’Neill, Chris Snelling and Michael Rosenzwieg. Donations in memory of Viola may be made to the Bengough Health Centre.
