Reader cannot understand supporting Donald Trump

To the Editor:
Allow me to quote directly from the letter published recently from Tom Schuck of Weyburn:
In reference to Donald Trump, he asserted: “It is no wonder he received overwhelming support by evangelicals and those who actually attend church.”
Really?
I am confused. It is true that Trump did attract this constituency of support. What I don’t get is why?
Now as a youngster I attended the Baptist Church in Midale.
I certainly was not taught it is okay to lie. It is not okay to make fun of disabled people. It was not okay to denigrate women and categorize them as easy prey.
It was not okay to discriminate and belittle those of other cultures.
It was never okay to insult and rant against those who might have alternative points of view.
And it was not okay to turn our back on the less fortunate in favour of the rich and privileged.
So.
Has the church changed? Has society changed?
One thing I do know and that is that my God would NEVER endorse this narcissistic, bigoted imposter.
