Both the St.Michael School girls basketball team and the Comp Eagles Junior A girls basketball team played in a tournament this past weekend at the Comp. One of the highlights of the tournament was that the junior Eagles placed third. They defeated Fillmore Friday night but then had a tough six-point loss to Moosomin on Saturday morning in the semifinal. Saturday afternoon the girls beat Indian Head to place third. The next action for the girls is this weekend when they travel to Indian Head for a tournament. The Comp Eagles senior girls basketball team had a tough weekend, playing three brand new teams at their second home tournament of the year. Their first game was against Saskatoon ED Feehan, which the Eagles won by the score of 82-22. The second game was against a tough opponent, Moose Jaw Central. Moose Jaw played a great game, hitting every open and contested shot they took, and they won 74-43. The last game of the night was a preview of the McLeod Series, namely Estevan versus Weyburn. These two teams had not played each other yet this year and did not know what to expect. Both teams had an excellent defensive game, keeping the score low and tight. At the end of every quarter, the game was tied. Estevan scored with 30 seconds left, and the Eagles could not match it, losing 54-53.
