The annual McLeod Basketball Series against Estevan will be held in Weyburn on Tuesday, February 13. The games will start at 5:30 p.m. The Estevan part of the home-and-home series was hosted on February 6.

This will be the 83rd meeting in this annual contest, which could possibly be the longest head-to-head basketball competition in Saskatchewan. It was first played in 1932 with a slight break in the early 70’s as the rivalry became too intense. Weyburn is ahead 43 to 39 in the series.

This weekend the basketball teams will be in the following tournaments – senior girls in North Battleford, freshman boys in Regina, junior girls in Yorkton and freshman girls in Gladmar. The wrestling team is in Moose Jaw. District senior curling playdowns will be held in Maryfield (mixed), Radville (girls) and Carlyle (boys) this weekend as well.

Grads and parents are reminded of two events. Grad photos will be taken from Feb. 5-9. Every grad is to get a picture taken but if they want more there is a $30 sitting fee. Grads and parents had a meeting in the Cugnet Centre on Feb. 7, to inform the grads of the school program which will be held on the afternoon of Saturday, June 9, and to discuss any plans for the Chem Free party.
