Damon Goski Spiel gives $38,700

The Damon Goski Scholarship Bonspiel wrapped up their 10-year run with the final spiel held in November at the Weyburn Curling Club.



The Damon Goski Scholarship Bonspiel wrapped up their 10-year run with the final spiel held in November at the Weyburn Curling Club.

Over the years, the Goski Spiel has disbursed a total of $38,700 to various causes and for scholarships, with the following totals given.

A total of $13,200 has been given towards junior curling equipment, and $9,000 has gone towards scholarships.

Recipients of scholarships have included Drew Krainyk, Kendra Weimer, Karly Johnson, Courtney Gerger, Colton Jensen, Matt Budney, Hans deWinter, and Paloma Proszak.

A total of $4,500 has gone towards pay junior curling entry fees for spiels from 2004 to 2011 inclusive; $5,500 has been donated to Weyburn Minor Football; and $3,500 has been donated to the Victim Services bonspiel.

Other donations included $1,000 to the Weyburn Ag Society's grandstand; $1,000 as a Junior Curling award for summer curling camp; $500 went to the 2004 Summer Games; and $500 went to the Weyburn Soccer Association.

The winners of the 10th annual Damon Goski scholatship bonspiel were the Skjerdal rink in first, Hoggin' All the Cool rink in second, the Wallin rink in third and a tie for fourth between the Vopni and Schwindt rink.

Winners of the raffle during the Goski bonspiel were Danette Tracey in first, Wilkie in second, Randy Telford in third and George Connely in fourth. The winner of the 50/50 draw was Adam Tropin.

Proceeds from the bonspiel go towards supporting local junior curling, as well as other local activities.
