The Richardson Pioneer Weyburn Gold Wings fell 5-2 to the Swift Current Diamond Energy Wildcats during their final game of the regular season at Crescent Point Place on Friday night.

Reece Pittman started off the scoring for the night with a goal eight minutes and 30 seconds into the first period. Katelyn Muchowski was credited with the assist. However, before the period ended, the Wildcats tied up the game.

Exactly a minute into the second period, the Wildcats pulled ahead, but Sydney Keddie swiftly evened things up with an unassisted goal at the 8:12 mark.

A power play opportunity in the second allowed the Wildcats to pull ahead though, and they continued to pull away with two more goals in the third period.

Final shots were 39-27 for the Wildcats with Chloe Burt in net for the Gold Wings.

The Gold Wings and Wildcats will have a rematch fairly soon as the two teams face each other for the first round of playoffs. The best-of-three series will start in Swift Current on Saturday, March 14. The second game will be played in Weyburn the following day with a puck drop of 4 p.m. If a third game is required, they will return to Swift Current on Tuesday, March 17.
