Gold Wings Head Coach returns and new GM joins team

The Weyburn Richardson Pioneer Gold Wings announced on Monday that they have hired a new General Manager and Director of Player Performance for the 2020/21 season. Kyle McDonald will take on the role when the new season starts up.

The Weyburn Richardson Pioneer Gold Wings announced on Monday that they have hired a new General Manager and Director of Player Performance for the 2020/21 season. Kyle McDonald will take on the role when the new season starts up. In the team's news release they gave a bit of background information on McDonald.

"Kyle is the owner of Competitive Will Performance Consulting. Through 16 plus years involved in competitive sport, along with his academic background in the fields of sport psychology and leadership, Kyle has developed a strategic outlook on mental training and the high-performance needs of individuals and organizations. Kyle has been involved with Hockey Canada since 2018 as a Mental Performance Consultant. We are excited about the expertise and knowledge that Kyle brings to our organization’s management and coaching staff. He will assist in player recruitment, player development, and leadership."

In the same news release, the Gold Wings announced that Chad Kish will return as Head Coach for the upcoming season which he has done now for a number of years. For 18 years, Kish has been involved in the Weyburn Female Hockey Coaching program from Initiation to Midget AAA. In the 2013/14 season he led the Gold Wings to an ESSO Cup victory and was awarded the Coach of the Year award by the Saskatchewan Hockey Association.

Kish has been involved in the SaskFirst U-16 Female program for many years which has given him the opportunity to coach alongside and learn from University coaches.
