The Weyburn Richardson Pioneer Gold Wings are on a three-game winning streak after defeating the Saskatoon Stars 5-4 in a shootout tonight.
Previously the Gold Wings beat the Sharks 3-2 in overtime in Battleford on Jan.12 and defeated the Notre Dame Hound 2-1 in overtime on home ice Jan.15.
First off,  Sara Auchstaetter scored the first goal of the game on a penalty shot.
However, things seem to go downhill as the Stars were able to put up three goals by 4:15 mark in the second period.
Thankfully, Dakota Bowler cut the goal gap to one before the period ended.
The Stars pulled ahead 4-2 on a power play goal in the third period, but the Gold Wings responded with a power play goal of their own by Katelyn Muchowski. Karleigh Mackenzie and Bowler were credited with the assists.
At the 7:17 mark Bowler tied up the game with assistance from Hailey Verhelst.
No more goals were scored in the period so the game was forced into overtime. Ultimately a shootout would be needed after two scoreless five minute periods of overtime.
Madison Lafoy and Auchstaetter were able to get the puck past the Stars goaltender, while only one Stars shooter was able to get past Lexi Peace.

The Gold Wings face the Stars again tomorrow at Crescent Point Place at 1:00 p.m.
