The Weyburn Richardson Pioneer Gold Wings played for the first time since February 11 on Tuesday night.

For their return to the ice, the Gold Wings hosted the Regina Rebels at Crescent Point Place.

After the first period, the Rebels led 3-0. At the top of the second period, Nikita Schmidt found Lauren Demmans rushing up the ice. Demmans made her way past the Rebels and took a shot on net, but it rebounded off the goaltender’s pads. Jayden Baker was there to pick up the rebound and seal the deal.

Unfortunately, the Rebels were able to put up three more by the 13:35 mark in the third period.

On a power play opportunity, the line of Demmans and Baker was once again able to make magic happen. Demmans scored the goal and Baker had the assist.

Before the final buzzer, the Rebels earned two more goals and handed the Gold Wings an 8-2 defeat.

Final shots were 57-18 for the Rebels with Chloe Burt in net for the Gold Wings.

Once again the Gold Wings have over a week off before playing again. The Wings will take the ice at CPP on Friday, March 6, when they host the Swift Current Diamond Energy Wildcats.
