Gymnastics Club attends competitions

The competitive girls from the Weyburn Gymnastics Club attended their third competition of the season in Saskatoon at the Can-Am Personal Best Invitational on March 22 and 23.

The competitive girls from the Weyburn Gymnastics Club attended their third competition of the season in Saskatoon at the Can-Am Personal Best Invitational on March 22 and 23. The gymnasts who achieved their personal best scores received a gold medal at this competition.

Congratulations to Emily Williams who placed first overall out of seven competitors in the provincial 9 and 10 year-old age category. Emily Williams received a gold medal on beam and floor, a silver medal on bars and a bronze medal on vault. Emily also received a gold personal best medal.

Competing in the 9 and 10 year-old provincial one category were Kylie Van De Sype, Madison Renner and Aurelie Bouchard. Renner earned a bronze medal on vault and placed eighth all around. Bouchard tied for eleventh overall and Van De Sype placed thirteenth all around.

Competing in the 11 and 12 year-old provincial one category were Elise Colbow and Rumina Edgerton. These girls competed against six competitors and placed second and fourth respectively. Colbow received a silver medal on vault, bars and beam. Edgerton received a bronze medal on floor. All provincial one girls achieved a personal best gold medal.

In the provincial 2 level, Blayke Walbaum, Payton Werewka and Cassidy Roy attended the competition in Saskatoon. Blayke and Payton competed in the 11 and 12 year-old age category against 15 competitors while Cassidy competed in the 13 and older age category against 12 competitors. Blayke placed ninth overall and Payton placed fifteenth overall. Both girls achieved their personal best gold medal. Cassidy placed tenth overall.

McKenzie Winter and Taylor Elmy competed in the provincial 3 level. Winter competed in the 14 and 15 year-old age category against 10 competitors and placed sixth all around. Winter also achieved a personal best gold medal. Elmy competed in the 16 and older age category against seven competitors and placed sixth all around, receiving a gold medal on bars and a bronze medal on floor.

Carley Evans competed in the provincial 4 level. Evans competed in the 13 and 14 year-old age category against six competitors and placed sixth all around. She also received a silver medal on vault.
