This weekend is Hockey Weekend in Weyburn with Rock the Rinks. On Friday, Jan. 18, before the Red Wings’ home game, there will be a Red Wings Tailgate Party outside Crescent Point Place from 5-7 p.m. There will be games, music and a dance party with the Gold Wings.
As well, you can purchase tickets for the Annugas WMHA Player Draw to win a Nintendo Switch. The winner of the draw will be named during the Red Wings-Estevan Bruins game that night, with all the sale proceeds going to Make-A-Wish Saskatchewan.Weyburn Minor Hockey Association ( WMHA ) and the Weyburn Red Wings will be working together to get all minor teams in for free to the Red Wings game for kids wearing their team’s jersey to the game.
WMHA games will proceed all day on Saturday with a special visit from the Regina Pats Mascot, K9, from 10 a.m. to noon, and relay races starting at 10 a.m. and going until 4 p.m. In the evening, there will be a Gold Wings Tailgate Party outside Crescent Point Place from 5-7 p.m. with team relay races, face painting and more. Those in attendance can purchase the Vermilion Energy WMHA Player Draw to win a PS4, and the winner will be drawn for during the Gold Wings game against the Regina Rebels at 7:30 p.m. All WMHA players with team jerseys can get in for free to the game.
To end the weekend off on Sunday will be hockey with the Red Wings from 10:30 a.m. to noon. From 10:30-11:15, Novice and Initiation players are invited to skate with Red Wings players (must be wearing a hockey helmet), get a tour of their dressing room and have players sign autographs. Then from 11:15-12, atom and older divisions are invited to do the same. Just before this however, all the WMHA players will take a wrap-up photo on the CPP ice at 11:15 a.m.
