Weyburn native son and offensive lineman Brett Jones of the Minnesota Vikings in the NFL is the subject of a documentary that will be coming out in the future. The first trailer for Uncharted North: I Am Brett Jones was released onto YouTube and NFL Canada.

In the description of the movie from the official YouTube channel of the studio that will be distributing the movie, the little park, they said, “Minnesota Viking centre Brett Jones walked a path from the cold Canadian midwest, through injuries and trades, to playing for one of the most storied franchises in the NFL.”

There wasn’t any timeline given about the release date for this documentary film.

The movie will track Jones’ journey from his high school days in Weyburn, to his college career at the University of Regina, and his time in the CFL with the Calgary Stampeders to the National Football League, where he’s spent time with the New York Giants as well as the Vikings. The trailer showed that his Weyburn football coach, Darren Abel of the Weyburn Comp Eagles, is one of those interviewed along with Brett for the documentary.

The Vikings traded for Jones in August of 2018, sending a seventh-round draft choice to the Giants to acquire his services. He appeared in 14 games with the Vikings in 2018, starting three of those games, but appeared in just two games this past season before being placed on injured reserve in November.
