New season for curling starts at rink


The Weyburn Curling Club has started another season, as their weekly leagues are now in action, and a number of bonspiels will be held this season.

The first bonspiel will be the Habitat For Humanity Spiel which will be held Saturday, Nov. 22. Then in December, the Ike Buckner Master's Spiel will be held Friday and Saturday, Dec. 12 and 13; and then the Boxing Day Spiel will be held Friday, Dec. 26 (on Boxing Day).

Then in January, the Mainil Youth Curling Classic Spiel will be held Saturday and Sunday, Jan. 10 and 11. The Team Diabetes Fun Spiel will be held Saturday, Jan. 17 and the Oilmens Spiel will be held Friday and Saturday, Jan. 23 and 24.

The Weyburn Curling Club will host the Senior Southern Men's Playdowns on Thursday, Jan. 29 to Sunday, Feb. 1.

The annual Ladies Spiel will be held Friday to Sunday, Feb. 13 to 15. A Victim Services Spiel will be held Saturday, Feb. 28. The annual Men's Spiel will be held Friday to Sunday, March 6 to 8. The Big Brothers Big Sisters Curl for Kids Sake fundraiser will be held Saturday, Mar. 14.

The final bonspiel of the year will be the annual spring wind-up, to be held Friday and Saturday, March 20 and 21.

The Curling Club has also started their weekly league action. On Mondays, they have an After School league at 4 p.m.; and their open league at 7 p.m.

On Tuesdays, they have a mixed league at 1 p.m.; and an open league at 7 p.m. On Wednesdays they have a men's league at 7 p.m. On Thursdays, there is a mixed league at 1 p.m., and an open league at 7 p.m. On Fridays they have a farmers league at 1 p.m., and an open league at 7 p.m.
