Red Wings fall short in weekend games

The Richardson Pioneer Weyburn Red Wings fell 6-4 on the road Novemeber 8th to the Estevan Bruins. The first period was rough and ended with the Bruins leading 3-0 and shots being 17-9 for the Bruins.

The first period was rough and ended with the Bruins leading 3-0 and shots being 17-9 for the Bruins.

The second period saw the Red Wings bounce back a bit. Rhett Frey started the period by scoring a short handed goal and the later on Daytona Houle fired one into the netting during a power play opportunity. However, the Bruins were able to score before the end of the period which made the score 4-2 for the Bruins.

Early in the third Mathieu Belanger was able to get the Wings another goal, but a couple minutes later the Bruins made it a two-goal game again. On the power play and with Noah Decottignies pulled from the net, Houle scored his second goal of the night. The Bruins finished off the game scoring a empty netter though.

Final shots were 42-24 for the Bruins with Decottignies in net for the Red Wings.

The following night, the Red Wings were in Moosomin playing the Notre Dame Hounds as part of Moosomin Minor Hockey Weekend.

Despite outshooting the Hounds 42-27, the Red Wings came out empty handed and fell 3-0 to the Hounds.

The Red Wings next game is on Tuesday in Melville against the Millionaires.
