The Richardson Pioneer Weyburn Red Wings hosted the Notre Dame Hounds Wednesday night and it was quite an impressive game to say the least.

The Wings were looking to start a win streak after defeating the Melville Millionaires 2-1 on Dec.1, but the odds were seemingly against them as the Hounds had won every regular-season matchup between the two teams this season.

The Hounds started off the scoring with a goal just over seven minutes into the first period, but Shayde Peterson responded less than two minutes later with an unassisted goal.

The score remained tied at ones until Jevon Schwean scored his fourth of the season only a few minutes into the third period. Rhett Frey and Quinton Hill were credited with the assists.

However, at the halfway mark of the period, the Hounds tied up the score once again and the game was sent into overtime.

With only seconds remaining in overtime, Hill scored the game winning goal giving the Red Wings their second win in a row.

The three stars of the game were given to Peterson with the third star, Schwean with the second and Hill with the first.

Final shots were 25-22 for the Wings with Noah Decottignies in net for the Red Wings.

The Red Wings return to the ice Friday, Dec.13 to host the Melfort Mustangs. Puck drops at 7:30 pm.
