Team Muyres, who represented Saskatchewan at last year’s Brier men’s curling championship, put on a curling clinic for junior curlers at the Weyburn Curling Club on Saturday afternoon.

The team is comprised of skip Kirk Muyres, second Dan Marsh, third Kevin Marsh and lead Dallen Muyres.

The clinic had 28 children attend with varying degrees of curling knowledge and experience, and they were divided amongst the four curling team members accordingly, with Dallen taking the youngest group, then Kirk the next oldest with some experience, and the twin Marsh brothers took the two oldest groups, with Kevin taking care of the group who have a fair amount of curling experience.

They went through some drills and practice routines appropriate to each level of experience, as they taught the children some techniques for coming out of the hack, for throwing a rock and for sweeping a curling shot, how to do in-turns and out-turns, and so on.

After the on-ice session, the team gathered the children in the curling rink lounge and talked to them about their own experiences, and took a number of questions from them with prize draws for items, some of which were Team Muyres memorabilia.

They ended the session with signing of autographs and taking photos with the team.
