(Update) Red Wings play in SJHL Showcase

The Richardson Pioneer Weyburn Red Wings played in Warman on Sunday night against the Battleford North Stars for the SJHL Showcase.

The Richardson Pioneer Weyburn Red Wings played in Warman on Sunday night against the Battleford North Stars for the SJHL Showcase. 

The game was scoreless for the first two periods of the game, but things escalated quickly with three North Star goals early in the third.

Liam Rutten was finally able to get the Red Wings on the board with just over nine minutes left in the period. Braden Birnie had the assist.

The North Stars scored one more goal before the end of the game and the 4-1 loss.

On Monday night, the Wings played the Flin Flon Bombers in the Showcase and it started off as a close one, but got messy real quick.

The Bombers started off the scoring in the first and were able to put two up before Jevon Schwean was able to find the back of the net. Taylor Halbgewachs and Taylor Schmidt had the assists.

In the second period, the Bombers came out flying and scored three goal just over seven minutes into the period. Finally Keigan Callander was able to get a second goal for the Wings with assistance from Jake Misskey and Quinton Hill.

Two more goals were scored by the Bombers in the second making it 7-2 and that would become the final score after a scoreless third period. 

The Red Wings next game is on home ice against this Yorkton Terriers this Friday. Puck drop is at 7:30 p.m.
