The Weyburn Beavers continued to dominate the Western Canadian Baseball League with a win over the Swift Current 57s on Tuesday evening to extend their streak to 16 games and counting.

The week started on the road against the Yorkton Cardinals, recording a 12-4 victory, before moving on to a three-game series against the Medicine Hat Mavericks.

The Beavers swept the series with a 4-3 win on Thursday, an 8-6 victory on Friday and a 15-3 trouncing of the Mavericks on Saturday evening.

The Friday night win included a home run in the bottom of the ninth inning with the score tied at 6-6, and Aussie Jack Barrie nailed a homer to clinch the victory for the Beavers.

On Sunday, the Beavers hosted the Melville Millionaires, winning by the score of 5-3.

A home-and-home series began Monday against Swift Current.

The 57s acted as the host first, giving them home field advantage, but this didn’t matter to the Beavers as they came away with an 8-3 win, before the teams came to Weyburn to play at Tom Laing Park on Tuesday night, and the Beavers pulled out a 6-5 win, with three runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to seal the deal.

Throughout this stretch, the Beavers scored a total of 13 home runs. The hits came from the bats of Tristan Rodriguez (with a grand slam on Monday night), Ryan Gaab, Jame McCallum, each with one, Marcus Catalano had two, and Jack Barrie scored six homers. Garrett Perez knocked out a home run on Tuesday night to keep the momentum going as well.

The Beavers now have two days of rest before they head to Moose Jaw on Friday, June 21, to start a home-and-home series against the Miller Express.

Friday’s game starts at 7:05 p.m at Ross Wells Park, and Saturday’s game will be at Tom Laing Park, also at 7:05 p.m.

On Sunday, the Beavers will hit the road for Swift Current to again take on the 57s, with the first pitch at 2:05 p.m. at Mitchell Field.
