Weyburn GC holds Crocus men's tourney

The Weyburn Golf Club held their first golf competition of this year, with 69 golfers taking part in the Crocus Men’s Golf Tournament on Saturday and Sunday.

The Weyburn Golf Club held their first golf competition of this year, with 69 golfers taking part in the Crocus Men’s Golf Tournament on Saturday and Sunday.

The tournament was operated with the 12-minute intervals between tee times rather than the shotgun start they normally have.

Kade Johnson was the men’s champion with rounds of 70 and 75 for a total of 145, while Rick Hallberg was the senior men’s champion with rounds of 72 and 71 for a total of 143.

In the championship flight, second place went to Carter Hilkewich with rounds of 72 and 74 for a 146 total, and third was Kevin Brandino with rounds of 75 and 71 for a total of 146.

In the first flight, first place went to Jaxon Chartrand, who had rounds of 77 and 71 for a two-day total of 148. In second, Marshall Bakken shot rounds of 76 and 73 for a total of 149, and in third, Travis Mryglod shot 78 and 76 for a total of 154.

In the second flight, Brad Piero placed first with rounds of 82 and 77 for a two-day total of 159; Kris Labatt short 82 and 80 for a 162 total in second, and Clint Hanson shot 83 and 80 for a two-day total of 163 for third place.

In the third flight, first place went to Trent Wahl with rounds of 90 and 88 for a total of 178; second went to Trent Rommann, who shot 92 and 87 for 179, and in third place was Mike Knoll, who shot 92 and 87 for a total of 179.

In the senior championship, Michael Ross was second with rounds of 72 and 79 for a two-day total of 151, and third went to Kevin Vollet, who had rounds of 79 and 77 for a total of 156.

In the seniors first flight, Jim Linnell placed first with rounds of 85 and 81 for a two-day total of 166; second was Darren Miller, who shot 90 and 80 for a total of 170; and in third place was Rod Nieviadomy, who shot 87 and 83 for a total of 170.
