Two Weyburn hockey teams battled on the ice this week in fundraising efforts to make donations to two important causes.

The Peewee Legion Wings raised $165 and the Peewee RP Auto Wings raised $190 to donate to Hockey Fights Cancer.

The two teams then joined forces to raise $550 to support Jasmine Ozmun and family in their fight against cancer as Jasmine is currently in Mexico receiving treatment.

Both teams extend huge thanks to all who’ve helped with these fundraisers.

Friends set up a gofundme page for Ozmun, who is a mother of four and is dealing with cancer.

In early 2019, she was diagnosed with Stage 4 Renal Cell Carcinoma (a kidney cancer with mets to the bones and lymph nodes).

She and her husband have 11-year-old twins, and a nine and six-year-old who keep her on her toes.

Jasmine needed to have a hip replacement, which she had in 2019, and was also treated with 10 rounds of radiation to help combat the pain. During the five-month period the tumors grew by over 50 per cent in size and she developed several new ones. She also found out that the cancer had spread to her lymph nodes.

As of Friday, her gofundme page had reached $39,534, including the $550 raised by the minor hockey teams. To see her page or to donate to help out the family, go to https://www.gofundme.com/f/help-jasmine-win-her-fight-against-cancer
