Weyburn Jr. A girls make finals of home tourney

The WCS Junior A and B girls teams competed in a home tournament on Friday and Saturday, and the Jr. A girls advanced to the finals. The Junior A team finished second in their pool with a record of 6-2.

The Junior A team finished second in their pool with a record of 6-2. They beat Radville in the quarter-finals and then had a thrilling three-set win against Oxbow in the semi-finals. The girls came up against Kipling in the final and lost by scores of 25-18 and 25-23.

The WCS senior girls volleyball team competed at the Mega Volley tournament this weekend at Thom Collegiate in Regina.

The Eagles dominated the round robin matches with a 6-0 record. The Eagles found themselves up against the Lumsden Angels in the cross-over match where the winner would advance on to the semi final. The Eagles fell short and ended the tournament with a 6-1 record.

The Eagles next action will be in Weyburn at WCS as they will host their first of two back-to-back home tournaments on Sept 20-21.

The WCS senior boys volleyball team travelled to Estevan for a six-team round-robin tournament this past weekend. They finished in first place by beating Carnduff and Estevan in the playoffs.

The Weyburn Comprehensive Eagles senior volleyball teams participate in a home-and-away series with Estevan on an annual basis. This year the Weyburn portion of the Co-op Challenge will be hosted on Wednesday, Oct. 16 in the Eagles gym starting at 5 p.m.

The entry fee is a food bank donation. Residents are asked to cheer on the Eagles and come down with a food donation.

The Estevan leg of the series will take place on Oct. 9 at 5 p.m. at ECS.
