Weyburn junior golfer wins tour event in Swift Current

Junior golfer Darien Herlick of Weyburn won the bantam boys category of the Maple Leaf junior golf tour in Swift Current over the June 27-28 weekend.

He posted scores of 71 and 79 for a total score of 150, which was six strokes ahead of the second place golfer.

In the juvenile boys category, Davin Bourassa of Radville placed 12th with rounds of 87 and 76 for a total of 163.

They played at the Elmwood Golf and Country Club, which is a par 72 course with a total yardage of 5,934 yards.

The next dates for the Maple Leaf tour will be over the July 6-7 weekend at the Tor Hill Golf Course, followed by the Sask. Zone Junior Championship on the July 20-21 weekend at the Dakota Dunes Golf Course.

The Golf Saskatchewan championship will be in Warman on Aug. 22-23, and the national championships are slated for Surrey, B.C. on Oct. 9-12.
