Powerlifter Chelsea Wahl of Weyburn competed in the women’s powerlifting provincial championship, hosted in Weyburn at the Knox Hall on Saturday.
She was successful in two of three attempts in the squat competition, lifting weights of 100 kg (220.5 lbs.) and 107.5 kg (237 lbs.). She attempted 112.5 kg (248 lbs.), but wasn’t able to stand up again after squatting.
In the bench press, she was successful in 50 kg (110.25 lbs.) and set a personal best at 52.5 kg (115.7 lbs.), but was unable to do 55 kg.
The men’s competition was held on Saturday evening, and there will be more competition on Sunday afternoon, all at Knox Hall. A full report of the results of local competitors will be in the Weyburn Review on Oct. 30.
