Weyburn powerlifters place well at Provincial Championships

It was a good weekend for the local In Depth Powerlifting Club as they took home “Best Team Award” at the Saskatchewan Powerlifting Association Provincial Championships, held over the weekend in Weyburn at the Knox Hall.

Results from local lifters are as follows:

Session One – Equipped Bench Press Only: Franki Nault won first place in the 72 kg weight class with a bench press of 67.5 kg.

Session Two – Female Classic Powerlifting: Chelsea Wahl squatted 107.5 kg, bench pressed 52.5 kg and deadlifted 127.5 kg for a third place total overall in the 63 kg weight class.

Session Three – Male Classic Powerlifting: Richard Hazell finished in first place in the 120 kg weight class with a squat of 175 kg, bench press of 130 kg, and a deadlift of 210 kg.

Anthony Bianchi finished in third place in the 83 kg weight class squatting 200 kg, bench pressing 142.5 kg, and deadlifting 235 kg.

Chance Doud squatted 185 kg, lifted a bench press of 135 kg, and deadlift of 217.5 kg in the 93 kg weight class.

Session Four – Classic Bench Press Only: Heidi Fowler had a bench press of 80 kg in the 84+ kg weight class. Heidi won overall best female bench presser.

Session Five – Equipped Powerlifting: Marnel Spencer set National records in the Squat, Deadlift and Total, plus set a new provincial record in the bench press. She had a squat of 107.5, a bench press of 65.5, and a deadlift of 125.5 kg in the 47 kg Master 2 weight class.

Charlene Cossar placed first in the 72 kg weight class with a squat of 170 kg, bench press of 105 kg, and a deadlift of 185 kg.

Randy Schiller won first place in the Master 2 105 kg weight class. He had a squat of 210 kg, bench press of 125 kg, and a deadlift of 225 kg.

Kyle Paterson won first place in the 120 kg weight class, as he squatted 255 kg, bench pressed 165 kg, and deadlifted 295 kg.

Ryan Fowler won first place in the 120+ kg weight class. He had a 250 kg squat, 165 kg bench press, and 250 kg deadlift.

Most of the lifters were from clubs in Saskatoon, Regina and Moose Jaw with a few independent lifters from around the province.
